3D printing is a manufacturing process that creates physical objects from a digital design by building them one layer at a time. Whether you're creating prototypes, replacement parts, educational models, or fun projects, our 3D printer makes it easy to turn your ideas into reality.
The Louisburg Library offers one reservable Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printer for public use.

Compatible File Type: .STL
Material: PLA Filament
Full-color printing available with the AMS system (when applicable)

Tinkercad
Tinkercad is a free, browser-based design program that's perfect for beginners. It includes interactive lessons and tutorials that make learning 3D design easy.


Autodesk Fusion
Fusion is available free for personal and hobby use. Library patrons can also access Udemy through the library's digital resources to learn Fusion with hundreds of online courses.

Download Bambu Studio for free to prepare ("slice") your models for printing, adjust settings, and preview your project before printing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can staff help me design my project?
Staff members are unable to design or modify 3D models. However, they are happy to assist with preparing your file for printing and answering basic questions about the printing process.

Watch for future library classes covering 3D design and printing.


How do I reserve print time?
Online reservations are coming soon.

Until then, email your print request to:

Requirements:

Files must be in .STL format.
Standard print jobs are limited to approximately 5 hours during regular library hours.
Longer print jobs may be scheduled overnight based on printer availability.
Overnight prints are not monitored continuously, and the Library cannot guarantee successful completion.

What does it cost?
The MakerLab provides PLA filament in a variety of colors at no cost.

All you need is:

A valid Louisburg Library card
An account in good standing
Donations to help support the MakerLab are always appreciated.


Will every print be successful?
Not always.

3D printing depends on many factors including model design, print settings, and material behavior. Even professionally designed models can occasionally fail.

Library staff will make every effort to help ensure a successful print, but completed prints cannot be guaranteed.
